Statement would be of great help: Will the BiH Prosecutor's Office hear Vučić about the incident in Potočari

After Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić, who has recently begun intensively „evoking memories“ of the incident in Potočari on July 11 last year (when his glasses were broken), his political satrap Ivica Dačić predictably spoke out, writes the Patria news agency.

Although details are emerging that the incident was orchestrated by Vučić's spies, the head of Serbian diplomacy says that „there is no country in the world that would not react to an attack on its prime minister outside its territory“.

- Imagine if someone attacked Angela Merkel or (Vladimir) Putin, or (Joe) Biden when he was here with us, he said regarding the attack on Vučić in Srebrenica in 2015.

When the scenario that the BiH Prosecutor's Office had halted the investigation into the attack on Vučić did not work, they have now moved to another tactic, pathos (Vučić is otherwise known for this), to Dačić's spokesperson role in which he wants to show that security agencies in Serbia are ready to protect anyone who comes, while those in BiH are not.

Since July 11 last year, two parallel investigations have been conducted in BiH. The Special Prosecutor's Office of the RS had five or six qualifications of this act - from attempted murder to causing general danger.

Even the BiH Security Minister Dragan Mektić asked the Independent Board to dismiss the Director of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH, Mirsad Vilić. There was no evidence, and after a hearing, it was assessed that there were no elements nor legal basis to dismiss Vilić because he was not responsible for the incident in Potočari.

When the Special Prosecutor's Office of the RS, whose investigation also included Vilić, realized they had no evidence against the persons designated by the RS MUP as participants (attackers), on June 16 this year, they forwarded everything they had collected to the BiH Prosecutor's Office.

The State Prosecutor's Office did suspend the investigation against Almir Merdić, but not the general investigation into the incident in Potočari.

So far, hundreds of statements have been taken, thousands of images and video recordings reviewed. The question that is now logical to ask is: has Aleksandar Vučić and his entourage, as well as members of his cabinet who were with him when the incident occurred, been or will they be heard?

Viewed from the aspect of conducting investigations and gathering evidence, it is precisely the person who was the „target of the attack“ who should give a statement, not just the „attackers“.

Vučić's statement would greatly help bring the investigation to a close, the responsible would be punished, and political passions would calm down.

Vučić does not have to be heard in Sarajevo. The BiH Prosecutor's Office can ask colleagues from the Serbian Prosecutor's Office to take a statement from Vučić, for him to describe what was happening around him that day. As well as his closest associates and members of the „Kobre“ security detail.

For the record, the Serbian Prime Minister, immediately upon returning to Belgrade from Potočari, gave a statement that he had information that he was attacked by fans from Sandžak.

Then, his first associate from the cabinet appeared on the state television RTS the same evening, describing in detail what happened in Potočari.

The statements of the two of them, and of course all other Vučić's people, would be of great help to the BiH Prosecutor's Office to conclude this case. The question is whether that suits the Serbian Prime Minister.
