Construction of the Mostar North-Mostar South section and the Prenj tunnel begins in spring 2018

The management of JP Autoceste FBiH adopted initiatives to pass Decisions on initiating procedures for the realization of projects for the construction of the Prenj tunnel on the Konjic – Mostar North section and the Mostar North – Mostar South section.

With the adoption of the Spatial Plan of Areas of Special Significance for the Federation of BiH, “Motorway on Corridor Vc”, all conditions have been met for the commencement of construction of these two projects, it was announced from Autoceste FBiH, reports Patria.

JP Autoceste FBiH has completed preparations for the realization of the projects and prepared complete study-technical documentation. The total value of the construction of these two sections is around 550 million euros.

According to the previously adopted Decision of the Government of FBiH, the Finance-Design-Build model for the Prenj tunnel and Mostar North – Mostar South represents an additional source of financing besides the traditional method through international financial institutions. This financing model allows for a double inflow of funds, which will significantly accelerate the construction of Corridor Vc.

During the design and construction of the Prenj tunnel and the Mostar North – Mostar South section, JP Autoceste FBiH proposed a provision that at least 40% of the contracted project value be realized through domestic companies.

By adopting such a Decision, the Government of the Federation of BiH will take an active role in all phases of the realization of these two projects and issue a public call, while JP Autoceste FBiH will be the holder of all technical activities.

The construction of the Mostar North – Mostar South section, as well as the Prenj tunnel, should begin in the spring of 2018.
