Built with the help of donors: Parental house for children suffering from cancer opens on April 26

The Parental House for children suffering from cancer and their parents, built within the Pediatric Clinic, will be opened on April 26, 2016, and final works are underway, writes the BH News Agency Patria.

With the help of numerous donors, a functional facility with 660 square meters of living space, containing 10 apartments, has been built.

Fikret Kubat, project manager of the Association Heart for Children Suffering from Cancer in FBiH, stated that 10 families will be able to stay in the house at any given time, and no one will be left without accommodation, which will be free of charge.

- Around 20 children are being treated at the Hematology-Oncology Department of the Pediatric Clinic. Accommodation will be provided for children and parents coming from other cantons while the children are receiving therapy. The circumstances are such that the percentage of sick children is increasing year by year – says Kubat, emphasizing that cancer treatment is a long and difficult process, and families face accommodation problems.

Kubat pointed out that such houses are being built throughout Western Europe, and they applied all standards during the construction of this facility, with the help of the company Securitas BH.

- The company Securitas BH responded to our first call for help in building this house. I hope they will continue to support us in the future – said Kubat.

Daniela Gogić, Marketing and Communications Director at Securitas BH, expressed her satisfaction at being part of this project.

- We are pleased that there are people, individuals, and organizations in our country who are willing to help, to invest their time and effort completely free of charge, so that in the end, we have a noble institution. Securitas is a socially responsible company, and in 53 countries globally, we strive to contribute to overall better security and a better society as a whole as much as possible – said Gogić, adding that they will continue to support this and other projects in the future.

Gogić also used this opportunity to invite other companies, individuals, and institutions to support these humanitarian projects.

Gogić and Badurina with the technical team of Securitas BH

Sven Badurina, Head of Technical Protection Projects at Securitas BH, stated that the company provided complete technical infrastructure for the facility's protection.

- This includes an anti-burglary system, a video surveillance system, and a fire alarm system. The entire system is equipped with technical and security devices from our side. The service of the monitoring center and intervention in case of unwanted activities, as well as maintenance services according to legal norms, is our obligation – said Badurina.

Although the further financing of the Parental House has not yet been resolved, the Association Heart for Children Suffering from Cancer in FBiH believes that the solution is very simple because there are grants allocated to non-governmental organizations.

- If we managed to build this house, then I believe that government institutions should find a way to ensure long-term financing – said Kubat.
