Izetbegović spoke with Palestinian President Abbas

Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović spoke with President Mahmoud Abbas during his official visit to the State of Palestine. Chairman Izetbegović and President Abbas confirmed the friendly and bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the State of Palestine. They exchanged views on the current situation in the two countries, as well as the situation and relations in our region and the Middle East.

Chairman Izetbegović emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina has followed the recent tragic events in the Gaza Strip with particular concern, and that the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has called for an immediate cessation of violence and the resumption of dialogue.

Chairman Izetbegović recalled that Bosnia and Herzegovina supported the UN General Assembly resolution calling for the protection of Palestinian civilians.

He stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina strongly supports the holding of a peace conference that will bring a just and long-term solution to the conflict, based on the principles of international law and aimed at establishing two independent states.

He called for respect for UN resolutions, an end to all forms of violence, and a halt to construction in the occupied Palestinian territories, in order to create conditions for the resumption of peace negotiations and the resolution of the decades-long crisis.

Chairman Izetbegović was welcomed in Ramallah with the highest state and military honors, and before meeting with President Abbas, he visited the mausoleum where he paid tribute to the former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

The delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina included Igor Crnadak, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zoran Đerić, advisor to the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina from RS Mladen Ivanić, and Igor Planinić, advisor to the Croatian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Čović.
