Izetbegović on 2026: BiH a member of the EU and NATO, average salary 1,450 KM

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović presented the Election Platform "SDA Agenda – BiH 2026" at today's Party Convention.

- With our 2014 election platform, we focused on economic issues. Based on this platform, the Reform Agenda program was developed, which was accepted by the leaders of other parties. The implementation was difficult because the opposition did not adhere to what was signed. The most significant progress has been made on the path of BiH's integration into the EU and NATO – said Izetbegović.

He stated that a significant growth in the defense industry has been achieved, and that work will continue on this. He emphasized that BiH is the least indebted country in Europe. He considers it a success that BiH was removed from the FATF's grey list, which is a credit to the Council of Ministers of BiH.

He explained that the Agenda refers to a period of eight years, during which BiH could become a stable and prosperous country and a member of the EU.

- This process involves completing the answers to additional questions from the Questionnaire by the end of this year. Every step of adapting our legislation means progress for BiH – he said.

Izetbegović stressed that work must be accelerated on the path to NATO membership, and that our country could become a member of that Alliance before 2026. He emphasized that every citizen of this country must be equal on every inch of BiH, and that, on the economic level, new legal solutions are needed to facilitate business for foreign investors in BiH.

He dedicated special focus to education and the fight against corruption and organized crime. He said that the number of administration officials needs to be reduced to 35,000, and that it is necessary, when it comes to the healthcare system, to separate private practice from public.

He also spoke about the construction of highways on Corridor 5c, and the road from Sarajevo to Belgrade.

The President of SDA said that by 2026, the average salary should be 1450 KM, and that we will have one million employed.

He called for the engagement of the international community.
