Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Dr. Dragan Čović and member of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegović attended last night's meeting and working dinner of the BiH - Republic of Turkey Business Council, held in Istanbul, on the occasion of the official visit of the members of the Presidency of BiH to the Republic of Turkey. The dinner was also attended by owners and managers of large Turkish companies and banks, reports the Patria news agency.
The President of the Board for Foreign Economic Relations of the Republic of Turkey, Ömer Cihad Vardan, welcomed the high guests from BiH and thanked them for attending this dinner. He pointed out that the Turkish private sector is making great efforts to establish good economic relations with BiH and expects increased cooperation from the BiH side when it comes to adopting adequate legal frameworks.
The members of the Presidency of BiH presented investment opportunities in BiH to Turkish investors and outlined the adopted reform agenda currently being implemented at all levels of government in BiH with the aim of improving the business environment and attracting foreign investment to BiH.
The Minister of Customs and Trade, Bülent Tüfekçi, also addressed those present, highlighting the fact that there are around 700 projects by Turkish investors throughout BiH. He added that he is most proud of the fact that out of 50 Turkish companies operating in BiH, three are among the top 10 most successful companies operating in the entire BiH.
The members of the Presidency of BiH stated that now is the right time for investment in BiH, especially in the areas of agriculture, transport infrastructure, energy, and the textile industry.
The present Turkish businessmen emphasized that they consider BiH one of the priority countries for their investments and presented some concrete ideas and plans for investing in BiH.
It was agreed that in the coming period, working-consultative meetings will be held with interested investors and representatives of governments at all levels in BiH to agree on concrete investment models.
On behalf of the member of the Presidency of BiH from the Republika Srpska, Dr. Mladen Ivanić, the working dinner was attended by advisor Mira Pekić, the Presidency of BiH announced.
