Far-right motive of 'extermination of the different' behind the multiple murder in Hanau

(Patria) – Thousands of citizens across Germany gathered on Thursday evening to pay tribute to nine people who were killed the previous evening when gunfire was opened at two shisha bars in the city of Hanau.

In addition to the city of Hanau, where residents are still in shock, gatherings were also organized in another 50 cities including Berlin, Frankfurt and Hamburg.

German authorities are convinced that the suspect (43), who is said to be German, had a far-right motive; before the killing spree, he posted a message calling for the 'complete extermination of other races or cultures among us'.

After the shooting at two bars, he was found dead in his home, and for another lifeless body found at the same location, the police claim it is his mother (72), whom he killed before committing suicide.

Chancellor Angela Merkel stated that the multiple murder revealed the 'poison' of racism in German society, and called for opposition to all those who want to divide society.

- Much indicates that the perpetrator acted out of extreme right-wing motives, racist motives, Merkel said, adding 'out of hatred for other origins, other religions or different appearances'.

Let us recall, the attacks on two shisha bars in the city of Hanau near Frankfurt occurred on Wednesday evening, with a time difference of a few minutes.

Among the dead are 5 Turkish nationals; President Erdogan called on German authorities to bring the investigation to a conclusion, reports Euronews.
