SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A group of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who were in camps in Syria, in accordance with the earlier conclusions of the Presidency of BiH and the Council of Ministers of BiH, have arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Six women and 12 children, upon arrival at Sarajevo International Airport, underwent appropriate checks by the BiH Border Police, were provided with necessary assistance, and were subsequently transported to a reception center for further examinations and medical assistance, the BiH Ministry of Security announced.
"Along with this group, seven men arrived who fought on the side of terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq, and who have been handed over to the further jurisdiction of the BiH Prosecutor's Office. In preparation for the return of BiH citizens from Syria, numerous competent institutions, ministries, police and security agencies from BiH, and international partners have been intensively cooperating in recent months. Health and social services in BiH have also contributed to this cooperation. The BiH Ministry of Security expresses gratitude to all involved ministries and agencies in BiH, and especially to the American government and the US Embassy in Sarajevo for their support and assistance in carrying out these activities.
The BiH Ministry of Security, in cooperation with international partners, will continue to monitor the situation in the camps in Syria, where a certain number of women, children, and men from BiH are still located," it was announced.
