From OHR to Patria: Domestic institutions should address the implementation of Annex 7

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Government of Republika Srpska, at a session held several days ago, adopted a Proposal for a Law on Republican Administration under urgent procedure, which abolishes the Ministry for Refugees and Displaced Persons and introduces several new ministries.

According to data from the Union for Sustainable Return and Integration in Bosnia and Herzegovina, around 98,000 people have still not exercised their right to return and are demanding that their property be restored in the places from which they fled or were displaced during the war.

Thus, official data show that Annex 7 of the Dayton Peace Agreement is still far from being completed.

- More than twenty years after the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, there are still several important aspects related to the return of refugees and displaced persons under Annex 7 that need to be resolved. However, it is up to the domestic authorities to choose the optimal institutional structures to address these issues - OHR spokesperson Ljiljana Radetić told Patria.

Annex 7 is an integral part of the Dayton Peace Agreement that deals with the protection of refugees and displaced persons, creating conditions for return, and forming a commission for refugees and displaced persons.
