CJB Bijeljina claims: Terrorist attack in Janja prevented

The Republika Srpska police prevented a prepared terrorist attack in the Bijeljina settlement of Janja, confirmed for N1 by CJB Bijeljina, reports the Patria news agency.

-Members of CJB Bijeljina and the Administration for the Fight against Terrorism and Extremism of the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska, in cooperation with the Agency for Investigation and Protection of Bosnia and Herzegovina, obtained operational information that a terrorist act or other serious criminal offense could be committed in the area of CJB Bijeljina with the aim of endangering the safety of citizens and property on a larger scale and inciting religious, national and racial intolerance, said Aleksandra Simojlović, spokesperson for CJB Bijeljina.

Acting on this information, the police collected data on possible targets of the attack and today conducted a search of a catering facility where preparations for a terrorist attack were discovered.

From CJB Bijeljina, they state that the timely action of the police and the Administration for the Fight against Terrorism and Extremism of the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska prevented the execution of the attack, and police officers continue to work on clarifying all circumstances that could have led to the attack. All measures were taken under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Bijeljina.
