Experts from the European Commission said yesterday from Brussels that there are great chances for European milk producers on the world market.
That may be a bit exaggerated, but one of them said that he would not be far wrong if he said that milk is the gold of the future.
Milk production is also on the rise in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The association of dairy farmers in BiH estimates that domestic dairies purchased slightly less than 225 million liters of milk from domestic producers during 2014, which represents an increase of about 9.2% compared to 2013, meaning that about 20 million liters more milk was purchased from domestic farmers than the previous year.
By approximately the same percentage during 2014, the amount of processing in domestic dairies also increased compared to the processed amount of milk in 2013.
However, BiH dairy farmers recently warned that the state must urgently find a way to help them in 2015, so that the trend of growth in milk production and purchase in BiH can continue this year as well.
Dairy farmers warned that at this moment they have as much as 10 million liters of milk in stock, and that this is a great burden on them, and that the state must offer a solution to overcome this crisis.
From Brussels, they said that if consumers buy domestic milk (and this also applies to consumers in BiH), producers do not have to worry about the placement of milk and the future of the dairy industry in the country, writes Patria.
