Ivo Sanader released from prison: I will no longer engage in politics

Former Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader has been released after three years spent in Remetinec prison, and was met by his lawyers before heading home, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

- I will not comment on politics, I am no longer involved in politics, that is a closed chapter. I have several proceedings now and I will focus on those. I am convinced that we will win them in the end - said Sanader.

There were also those who came to express their support for Sanader. A few of them carried a banner that read: 'Father, your children are waiting for you'.

Let us recall, after spending the last three years in prison, the former Prime Minister and President of HDZ was released. The Constitutional Court concluded that the Supreme Court had unlawfully extended Sanader's pre-trial detention when it overturned the non-final first-instance verdict in the Fimi media case on September 30, 2015.
