Istanbul: Bomb attack on police station, gunfire in front of US consulate

During the night and morning, two attacks occurred in Istanbul, targeting a police station and the US consulate. In the bomb attack on the police, 10 people were injured, reports the Patria news agency.

Among the injured are seven police officers. The attack in the Sultanbeyli district caused a partial collapse of a three-story building and damage to about 20 vehicles parked at the scene.

A few hours later, two attackers opened fire in front of the US consulate building in Istanbul and fled after local police returned fire, CNN Turk reported.

The attack on the US consulate in Istanbul's Sariyer district was carried out by a man and a woman, the local Dogan news agency reported, adding that there were no injuries. Police soon announced that they had arrested a woman suspected of the attack. 

The AP agency reports that no one has yet claimed responsibility for the bomb attack on the police station.
