Man murdered in front of building in Osijek

(Patria) - A man whose body was found this morning in the courtyard of a residential building in Osijek is the victim of a violent act, the investigation showed, the Osijek County Prosecutor's Office announced.

Deputy County State Attorney Miroslav Dasović told reporters at the scene in Županijska Street that a violent death, in the form of a criminal offense, is suspected and that criminal investigations are ongoing.

The investigation is still underway, and traces are being collected and seized, which will be sent for expert examination to the "Ivan Vučetić" Centre for Forensic Examinations and Expertise.

- The victim's body has been transported to the Pathology Department of the Osijek Clinical Hospital Centre to determine the cause and manner of death - said Dasović.

He notes that the victim's identity has not yet been established, but that it is a middle-aged person.

He could not answer reporters whether the traces found so far could connect anyone to the criminal offense, adding that traces are still being collected.

The police announced this morning that shortly before eight o'clock, they were informed that an unknown man was found lying in the courtyard of a residential building in Županijska Street in Osijek, showing no signs of life.

Police officers immediately responded to the scene, where a doctor from the Osijek-Baranja Institute of Emergency Medicine confirmed the death of a male person, the Osijek-Baranja police stated.
