Isović: We reported tax evasion exceeding 5.6 million KM

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Director of the Tax Administration of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PU FBiH) Šerif Isović emphasized at today's press conference that taxpayers in 2020 paid more than five billion KM.

He pointed out that collections fell by 157 million KM, or more than two percent, compared to 2019.

"The highest collections were contributions on wages - more than three billion KM. Then comes profit. The drop in contributions on wages is one percent, and that is a success in this environment when we had a major impact," said Isović.

The largest collections are in the Sarajevo Canton, and the smallest in the Posavina Canton. Although BiH is in crisis due to the pandemic, the Tuzla Canton recorded a growth of 4 percent due to increased collection of overdue debts.

He stressed that in 2020, the Administration conducted more than 5,600 inspections in which more than 183 million KM in unpaid tax liabilities were discovered, for which fines totaling 5.97 million KM were imposed on 3,095 taxpayers.

"We were forced to file 40 reports on criminal offenses of tax evasion with an estimated value of evasion exceeding 5.6 million KM," said Isović.

Regarding the number of employees in 2020, the Sarajevo Canton saw a decrease of more than 4,000 workers.

In the FBiH, at the end of December 2020, there were 428,000 pensioners.
