Isović: Citizens reported about 3,000 law violations to the Tax Administration

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Director of the Tax Administration of the Federation of BiH Šerif Isović said that the Tax Administration collected slightly more than 4.8 billion KM in taxes in the Federation last year, which is 8.15%, or 363 million KM more compared to 2016.

Isović told Centralni dnevnik on FACE TV that the Tax Administration of FBiH could be even more efficient if they had better working conditions, but also more inspectors.

“We need about 430 people, of which 77 are inspectors,” said Isović, reports NAP. The Director of the Tax Administration added that recognition should also be given to all those entrepreneurs who operate in difficult Bosnian circumstances and regularly pay taxes. Citizens also help in the work of the Tax Administration, who have recently reported about 3,000 cases of law violations to the Tax Administration. Isović emphasized that an effective reform of the tax system is certainly needed in FBiH, which would bring positive trends. The existing legal regulation, Isović said, stimulates the grey economy.

Speaking about the “Zadruga” operation, which involved hundreds of companies and individuals suspected of damaging the state for hundreds of millions of KM and more, Isović said that he cannot speak about that case, but that parts of the law regulating work contracts, or student contracts, should certainly be regulated more effectively, so as not to leave room for manipulation.

“In the last three years, about 500 million KM have been paid based on work contracts. There are indications that the mass of these contracts is suspicious,” said Isović, adding that the Tax Administration has no way to control such contracts.

Isović also spoke about political pressures on him, or attempts to dismiss him from the position of acting director of the Tax Administration of FBiH so that, as he said, another person would take that position and influence the Tax Administration to overlook certain companies, reports NAP.
