Irfan Čengić openly about the new Government, Schmit, Čović, SDA: We received solutions that kill the civic perspective

(Patria) - MP in the KS Assembly and delegate in the Club of Bosniaks in the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament Irfan Čengić spoke out after today's confirmation of the FBiH Government.

He said that as a parliamentarian of the SDP, which has the greatest public support in both houses of the FBiH Parliament shown in the last elections, he does not have the luxury of not expressing his position in such times.

"Where everyone thinks the same, no one thinks much." Regarding the new FBiH Government: I waited for the Government to be elected, and now that SDA is no longer there, so that the usual bots do not falsely associate my views with helping the bad SDA Government remain. I am obliged to explain that I did NOT vote for the appointment of this Government because I am in the House of Peoples and I do not vote on the appointment of the Government. I did not support such a Government at SDP's bodies because I believe it is not in line with the SDP's Program. Just as I have the statutory right to my own opinion, others have the possibility to impose their views by force of numbers that convicted criminals, people on blacklists, and those without electoral legitimacy should sit in governments... and that is an integral part of democracy for me.

Christian Schmit took responsibility for the appointment of that Government, taking the constitutional right of the Vice President and 51 MPs who have names and surnames. I wish the new FBiH Government happy work; it will have my support in all good things in accordance with the constitution, laws, and the SDP's Program. It will not have my support in anything bad, regardless of the price, because the homeland has no price, and mandates pass, we all have to walk around the city, although many of them do not walk around the city.

It is good that SDA is going into opposition; the SDA leadership should look in the mirror and ask themselves how they got themselves into this situation and how they brought the country to where it is. They have a great advantage because I think the way the new FBiH Government came about will extremely quickly help them increase their votes in the next elections.

On the imposed OHR Decision

Now that SDA is NO LONGER HERE and we have a new Government, we should speak honestly about Christian Schmit's bad intentions for this country. Just as he did not tell the truth on 2.10. that he unblocked FBiH, he also lied yesterday on 27.4. that he had unblocked FBiH long-term, because after a detailed reading, the new Decision leaves the possibility of blocking FBiH plus all 10 cantons if the 14 delegates from the Croat Caucus wish. Therefore, in Article 1 of the decision, with a one-time "ad hoc solution" that serves only today, Schmit decided to take away the right of the Bosniak Vice President, guaranteed by the Constitution and the Washington Agreement, and with his signature, elect the FBiH Government and send it to the House of Representatives for confirmation.

Aware that the troika has only 6 out of 23 delegates in the Bosniak Caucus who are willing to accept one-time solutions, he decided to take away the Bosniak Caucus's right to participate, a right that all peoples' caucuses have in the House of Peoples after 2026. The reason for 14 delegates and not 2/3 is simple: it is the estimated number that is considered to be the maximum that pro-Bosnian forces can get in the Croat Caucus to remove HDZ from power. And if the Croat Caucus blocks like the Bosniak Caucus is blocking now, then OHR intervention will no longer be possible, but the Parliament and cantonal assemblies can be dissolved and elected indefinitely, and governments in technical mandates will remain.

It is clear that there will be no electoral reform of the BiH Constitution in 6 months, because Schmit cannot intervene in the BiH Constitution, and we do not have 2/3 in the BiH Parliament and only 1 out of 5 Bosniaks in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament, and then new big problems arise. It would be much simpler to understand if Christian Schmit had written into the Constitution that HDZ parties and the rest of HNS must always be in power, regardless of whether they even run for the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, because with this solution, he has enabled them to do so. I don't have a problem with SDA being ousted, but because HDZ is permanently protected. I am unburdened, so I can write honestly, because I received every duty with the votes of the people, without imposition, without compensation, without appointments... and I can firmly stand by the words written in the SDP's Program. Most people are just commenting on this Government; I am more interested in what we got for 2026, 2030, 2034. Honestly, the solution we got for the future of BiH is devastating. A solution that kills civic multi-ethnic parties and the civic perspective.

With the new decision, Schmit left previous solutions unaddressed, stating that laws should be submitted to the House of Peoples within 45 days, because the leadership of the House of Peoples showed him in practice that they do not respect this and do not put laws on the agenda for months. Thus, he showed that his goal is not to adopt laws. He also did not fix the solution whereby out of 4 key positions in FBiH, only 1 can be a Bosniak, 2 Croats, and 1 Serb. The problem is that the House of Representatives will generally entrust persons from compensation lists to lead the house, which is an absurdity. At the same time, in RS, the president, prime minister, and president of the National Assembly are from the Serb people.

On Čović

Although he is very bad at predicting dates, Dragan Čović has managed in these 15 years to get rid of Silajdžić, Lagumdžija, Tihić, Komšić, representatives of the international community who insist on EU values, and today also Izetbegović. He has achieved almost all his strategic goals and received much more than what the state-minded SDP and SBB rejected with Štefan Füle at the time. With the rules that apply from 2024 and to which consent was given, a civic order is impossible, and multi-ethnic parties are meaningless. In total, today we finally got a government without SDA, but also Schmit's terribly bad solutions.
