(Patria) - The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated via the social network X that his country's armed forces are ready to "give a deserved response to any aggression." His post followed a reaction to US President Donald Trump's statement that a truce with Iran is "on life support," with repeated threats to Tehran.
"Wrong strategy and wrong decisions always lead to wrong results - the whole world has already realized that. We are ready for all options; they will be surprised," he said.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump is meeting with his national security team today to consider further steps in the conflict with Iran, with the possibility of continuing military action on the table.
According to Axios, Vice President JD Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe will participate in the meeting along with other high-ranking officials.
The meeting comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, after Trump stated that a truce with Iran is "on life support," while Iranian officials warn that they are ready to respond to any new attack.
