Iranian Supreme Leader: Current situation with the US is unsolvable

(Patria) - Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei believes that the current situation with the US is "unsolvable" and that Tehran will never yield to pressure to obey Washington.

Iran suspended nuclear negotiations after the US and Israel bombed its nuclear facilities during a 12-day war in June.

Ayatollah Khamenei's statements followed an agreement between Iran and European powers on Friday to continue discussions to try to resume full negotiations on limiting Iran's uranium enrichment.

- They want Iran to be obedient to America. The Iranian nation will resist with all its might those who have such wrong expectations.

People who ask us not to chant slogans against the US, to have direct negotiations with the US, only see the illusion. This issue is unsolvable - Khamenei said.

France, the United Kingdom, and Germany have said they could re-activate UN sanctions against Iran under the "snapback" mechanism if Tehran does not return to the negotiating table.

European countries, along with the US, claim that Iran is working on developing nuclear weapons. Iran retorts that it is only interested in developing nuclear energy for civilian purposes.
