Iranian Foreign Minister: Attacks on Israel will end if war in Gaza stops

(Patria) - The Iranian Foreign Minister said that attacks on Israel and its interests by the "Axis of Resistance" will stop if the war in Gaza ends, warning that the conflict could increase tensions across the Middle East, Reuters reported.

"The end of the genocide in Gaza will lead to the end of military actions and crises in the region," said Hossein Amir-Abdollahian at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

"The security of the Red Sea is linked to the developments in Gaza and everyone will suffer if Israeli crimes in Gaza do not stop... All (resistance) fronts will remain active," he added.

US President Joe Biden on Friday called the Iran-backed Houthis a "terrorist" group, after US and British warplanes, ships, and submarines carried out dozens of airstrikes across Yemen overnight.

The Houthis, who have been targeting ships in the Red Sea in solidarity with Palestinians, have threatened a "strong and effective response" to the US and UK attacks.

Amir-Abdollahian also said that Tehran had shared intelligence with Iraq about what he called the activities of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad in Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdish region.

Iran said its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attacked an Israeli "spy headquarters" in Iraq in the city of Erbil on Monday. Iraq later denied the existence of such a spy center in the country.
