Iranian food producers: There will be no shortage, we have enough for export as well

(Patria) - The private sector in Iran is fully prepared to meet food needs in the current circumstances, said the Secretary General of the Food Industry Association, Rashid Azizpour, warning, however, that higher transportation and energy costs will significantly affect the market.

- The production capacity of the Iranian food industry exceeds domestic demand, and the necessary raw materials for production in the coming months have already been secured - Azizpour told the IRNA news agency, as reported by the Tehran Times.

The production capacity of the Iranian food industry has always been significant, he stated, thanks to the capacities of agricultural production and the active presence of the private sector.

- Since the beginning of the imposed war, we have not faced a shortage of food products at any point - Azizpour emphasized.

According to him, food industry products are delivered to all parts of Iran in sufficient quantities, and their supply to citizens is very diverse thanks to decades of investment by the private sector.

- Since the production capacity exceeds domestic needs, it can also be used for export development. The food industry requires timely supply of raw materials, as both products and raw materials are perishable - Azizpour added.

A significant portion of the raw materials needed for production in the coming months has already been secured, mostly from domestic production, and food industry plants continue to operate, regardless of the conditions.

- Given the production capacity, there will be no problems in the production process or in the food supply in the coming months - Azizpour is optimistic.

Regarding the impact of the war on food prices, he warned, however, that in the current circumstances, the increase in transportation and energy costs will have a significant impact on the market.
