(Patria) - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told neighboring Gulf states that Tehran "had no choice" but to retaliate against American-Israeli attacks.
Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran tried to avoid war diplomatically, but that the American-Israeli attacks left them with no other option.
"We respect your sovereignty," Pezeshkian wrote on platform X in two separate posts, in Arabic and Persian.
He added that Iran believes security in the region must be achieved through joint efforts.
His comments followed a phone conversation between Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
In that conversation, Araghchi rejected claims that Tehran exclusively targeted American interests in Qatar in the attacks.
