(Patria) - The Iranian parliament has voted to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), state television reports. Although the decision is not yet official policy – as it requires the approval of the highest authorities – it represents a political message from Tehran following American and Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that the IAEA has "squandered its international reputation by refusing to condemn Israeli and American attacks on Iranian facilities".
He added that Iran's nuclear authorities will "suspend cooperation with the IAEA until the security of nuclear facilities is guaranteed," and stated that "Iran's peaceful nuclear program will continue at an accelerated pace".
IAEA inspectors could enter Iran only with the explicit approval of the Supreme National Security Council and if the agency guarantees the security of the country's nuclear facilities, Nournews quotes a member of the Parliament's Presidium.
