(Patria) - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made a new statement on social media, commenting on the statements of European officials who called on Iran to "return" to negotiations after American attacks.
"Last week we negotiated with the US, when Israel decided to blow up that diplomacy. This week we negotiated with the E3/EU when the US decided to blow up that diplomacy," wrote Abbas Araghchi.
"What conclusion would you draw? I ask Britain and the EU High Representative, does Iran have to 'return' to the negotiating table?" he said.
"How can Iran return to something it never left, let alone destroyed?"
"They crossed a very big red line by attacking nuclear facilities... We must respond based on our legitimate right to self-defense," Araghchi said.
The Iranian head of diplomacy said he had been in contact with several foreign ministers from the region and that "almost all are very concerned" and interested in playing a role in stopping "Israeli aggression".
The EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, is calling for a return to dialogue.
"Iran must not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons, as this would be a threat to international security," she said in a post on X.
"I call on all parties to take a step back, return to the negotiating table and prevent further escalation. EU Foreign Ministers will discuss the situation tomorrow," she added.
Iran has stated that it will defend its sovereignty and has requested an investigation into the US attack on nuclear facilities.
The Iranian minister announced that he is traveling to Moscow where he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Russia is a friend of Iran and we have a strategic partnership," he said at a press conference in Istanbul.
"We always consult and coordinate our positions with each other," Araghchi said.
"Tomorrow I will have serious consultations with the Russian President."
