Iran threatened: If our facilities are targeted, we will hit American companies

(Patria) - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that his country will respond to any attack on its energy infrastructure by attacking American companies' facilities in the region.

- If Iranian facilities are targeted, our forces will hit American companies' facilities in the region or companies in which the United States has stakes - Araghchi said, Tasnim agency reported.

Araghchi stated that Iran will "certainly respond to these attacks", but will strive to avoid hitting densely populated areas.

This statement comes hours after the US military attacked Kharg Island, a key point of Iranian oil exports through which about 90 percent of Iranian oil passes.

The Iranian news agency later reported that US forces targeted air defense, a naval base, an airport control tower, and a helicopter hangar, adding that oil infrastructure was not damaged.
