(Patria) - Iran yesterday threatened US military bases in the Persian Gulf.
It warned that any US military move would be met with an immediate and decisive response, rejecting the idea that hostilities could be short or limited, reports Al Jazeera.
Speaking on state television, Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia said Tehran's response would not be limited, unlike last June, when US planes and missiles briefly joined Israel's short air war against Iran.
Akraminia pointed out that US aircraft carriers have "serious vulnerabilities" and that numerous US assets in the Persian Gulf region are "within the range of our medium-range missiles".
- If the Americans make such a miscalculation, it will certainly not unfold as Donald Trump imagines - that he carries out a quick operation and then, two hours later, 'tweets' that the operation is over - said Akraminia.
Mohamed ElBaradei, former Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), warned that threats of military action against Iran are reminiscent of the period preceding the war in Iraq.
In a post on X, ElBaradei stated that "continuous unilateral threats" of a military strike on Iran, in the absence of "clear and imminent danger" and in contravention of international law, evoke "the same grim picture on the eve of the illegal and immoral war in Iraq".
"Human lives and regional devastation do not seem to matter. We never learn," ElBaradei added.
