Iran claims potential memorandum with US includes end to war on all fronts

(Patria) - A potential memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States includes an end to the war on all fronts, the Tasnim news agency reported.

This includes Israeli attacks in Lebanon, and Washington would also commit to lifting sanctions on Iranian oil during negotiations.

If an agreement is reached, the Strait of Hormuz will not fully return to its pre-war state. Instead, the number of ships allowed to pass would be restored to pre-war levels within 30 days, Tasnim stated, reports Anadolu.

Iran, according to the agency, insists on exercising its sovereign rights over the Strait of Hormuz through various means, the details of which will be announced later.

At the same time, Iran insists on at least partial release of its frozen assets, and a potential agreement would also include a 60-day period for negotiations on Iran's nuclear program.

Tehran also seeks the lifting of the US blockade of its ports, claiming that there will be no changes in the strait if the blockade remains in effect.

All changes in navigation and transit through this strategic waterway will also depend on the implementation of other US obligations under the memorandum of understanding, the report states.

US President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that an agreement with Iran to end the war has been largely negotiated and is awaiting finalization. The progress followed a visit by Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir to Tehran, his second in recent weeks.

A ceasefire in the war, which began on February 28, was first achieved through Pakistani mediation on April 8.
