(Patria) - Iran has sent its latest proposal to the United States through Pakistani mediators to end the war, at a time when negotiations seemed to have stalled, reports the Iranian news agency IRNA.
This news comes after the two sides reached a ceasefire agreement on April 8. However, negotiations are continuing to achieve an agreement for a more lasting peace, Sky News reports.
Meanwhile, signals from Washington indicate that military options are being considered in parallel with diplomatic efforts.
According to Fox News, the commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Admiral Brad Cooper, presented President Donald Trump with possible scenarios for a so-called final blow to Iran.
Options presented at a briefing held in the White House Situation Room include a "short and powerful wave of strikes" if Trump decides to continue combat operations.
Potential targets include remaining military capabilities, Iranian leadership, and key infrastructure.
The Pentagon, according to the same report, is also considering further strengthening its military presence in the region by deploying advanced systems, including the hypersonic missile "Dark Eagle," capable of hitting targets up to approximately 2,700 kilometers away.
In addition, B-1B Lancer bombers are already increasing their presence in the Middle East and are ready to carry a large combat payload.
Let us recall that the US and Israel began attacks on Iran on February 28, after which Tehran retaliated with strikes on US allies in the Persian Gulf and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Although a truce was agreed upon on April 8 with Pakistan's mediation, the negotiations held in mid-April in Islamabad did not result in a final agreement, which is why the risk of a new escalation still exists.
