Iran: US and Israel targeting passenger ships in the Persian Gulf

(Patria) - Iranian armed forces claim that the United States and Israel have started attacking civilian ships in the Persian Gulf, writes Sky News.

"Due to successive defeats and the inability to counter the strong advance of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the American-Zionist enemies are targeting private vessels and passenger traffic in the Persian Gulf," said the spokesperson for the armed forces.

"We warn that if this cowardly aggression is repeated, severe and retaliatory measures will follow," he added.

Maritime security company Ambrey reported that on Thursday, American-Israeli airstrikes were directed at the Iranian port of Bandar Lengeh, in the east of the Gulf. According to their statements, there were no reports of casualties or damage to merchant ships.

On the other hand, the Iranian state news agency Tasnim reports that at least 16 commercial vessels were destroyed in the attack.
