(Patria) - Israeli intelligence suggests that Iran is preparing an attack on Israel from Iraqi territory in the coming days, possibly before the US presidential election on November 5.
This was reported yesterday by Axios, citing two anonymous Israeli sources. The attack is expected to be carried out from Iraqi territory using a large number of drones and ballistic missiles.
It further states that carrying out the attack through pro-Iranian militias in Iraq may be an attempt by Tehran to avoid another Israeli attack on strategic targets in Iran.
Israel and Iran have been exchanging attacks as part of the broader state of war in the Middle East fueled by the war in Gaza.
On Saturday, Israeli military aircraft struck missile production facilities and other locations near Tehran and in western Iran, in retaliation for an attack on Israel with 200 missiles on October 1.
A spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said on Monday that Tehran will "use all available tools" to respond to Israeli attacks.
