(Patria) - Iran said on Thursday that Tehran would consider bases, facilities and assets of "enemy forces" in the region as legitimate targets if it faced military aggression, Reuters reported.
US President Donald Trump's rhetoric towards Iran "signals a real risk of military aggression," according to a letter from Iran's permanent mission to the UN, adding that Iran does not want war.
The letter quotes Trump's social media post in which he wrote: "If Iran decides not to make a deal, the United States may need to use Diego Garcia and the airfield located in Fairford to eradicate a potential attack."
The letter claims that if the United States approaches talks with "seriousness and sincerity and shows genuine respect for the principles of the UN Charter and imperative norms of international law," a "lasting and balanced solution" could be reached.
However, if subjected to military aggression, Iran will respond "decisively," the letter states.
