Iran closely monitors all US moves in the region, especially troop deployments

(Patria) - Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that Tehran is "closely monitoring all US moves in the region, especially troop deployments." In a post on X, he warned Washington not to test Iran's resolve in defending the country.

"What generals have broken, soldiers cannot fix. Instead, they will become victims of Netanyahu's delusions," Ghalibaf wrote.

"Do not test our resolve to defend our country."

Earlier, the Associated Press reported that more than 1,000 soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division are being sent to the Middle East, along with two Marine units that will bring about 5,000 Marines and thousands of sailors to the region.

Harun Armagan, deputy chairman for foreign affairs in Turkey's ruling AK Party, told Reuters that Ankara "has a role in conveying messages" between Tehran and Washington.

Armagan said the aim of these messages is to calm tensions and open space for direct negotiations.

Turkey has strong ties with officials in the US and Iran and, together with a group of other countries, is trying to position itself as a potential mediator.

A new AP-NORC poll shows that a majority of Americans believe the US attack on Iran went too far, while a large portion of respondents are concerned about rising fuel prices. As the war enters its fourth week, the poll suggests the conflict could become a serious political burden for the Donald Trump administration.

According to the poll, 59 percent of Americans believe the US military action was excessive. At the same time, 45 percent of respondents say they are "very" or "extremely" concerned about being able to afford fuel in the coming months, a significant increase from 30 percent just before Trump took office.

Most Americans do not want further escalation, especially not an expansion of military engagement, and confidence in Trump's decision-making on military actions abroad remains limited.
