(Patria) - Iran's state news agency IRNA announced that reports about a second round of negotiations with the US in Pakistan are untrue.
It accused the US of excessive demands, contradictory statements, and frequent changes of stance. IRNA states that these, along with the US blockade of Iranian ports and threatening rhetoric, have so far hindered the progress of negotiations.
"In such circumstances, there is no prospect for successful negotiations," the statement on Telegram reads, without specifying a particular official or institution.
This comes after messages from two Iranian media outlets linked to the Revolutionary Guard, which also questioned Iran's participation.
In an interview with Fox News, Donald Trump spoke about the military readiness of the United States.
"We are preparing to hit them harder than any country has ever been hit, because they cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapons," he stated.
He added that the US has huge amounts of ammunition and commented on Iran's behavior, saying: "It's like they can't learn anything".
Despite the harsh rhetoric, diplomatic efforts also seem to be continuing. Trump confirmed that special envoys Witkoff and Kushner will travel to Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, this week to hold talks there.
