(Patria) – Air raid sirens sounded in several cities in central Israel, including Tel Aviv, Holon, Petah Tikva, and parts of the West Bank and Jerusalem, after the Israeli army (IDF) confirmed that Iran fired missiles towards Israeli territory.
“A short time ago, sirens sounded in several areas across Israel after rockets launched from Iran were identified,” the IDF stated.
The Israeli Air Force is currently engaged in operations to intercept and destroy missile threats, military sources report. Anti-missile systems such as Iron Dome have also been activated.
The Home Front Command has issued an urgent warning to all citizens in central Israel, including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and the West Bank, to immediately seek shelter in protected areas and remain there until further notice.
“Defense systems have been activated. Citizens are urged to follow official instructions and remain in shelters until the all-clear is given,” the Israeli authorities stated.
This represents a dramatic escalation of the long-standing tension between Iran and Israel, as the region and the international community anxiously monitor the developing situation.
There is no information yet on casualties or material damage. More information is expected during the evening.
