Iran mocks Trump's ceasefire proposal: You are negotiating with yourselves

(Patria) - An Iranian military spokesperson mocked US efforts to establish a ceasefire, saying that Americans are actually negotiating with themselves. His reaction followed shortly after the administration of Donald Trump sent a 15-point ceasefire proposal to Iran, mediated by Pakistan, writes the Associated Press.

In a pre-recorded statement broadcast on Iranian state television, Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaghari claimed that the strategic power of the United States has turned into a "strategic failure".

"If you were truly a global superpower as you claim, you would have already extricated yourselves from this chaos. Do not try to portray your defeat as an agreement. The time for your empty promises is over," Zolfaghari said.

"Have your internal conflicts escalated to the point where you are negotiating with yourselves?" he asked.

"Our stance has been the same from day one and will remain so: someone like us will never agree to a deal with someone like you. Not now, not ever," he concluded.
