(Patria) - Ahead of his semi-annual address to the United Nations Security Council, High Representative Valentin Inzko spoke today via video link with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.
Welcoming the renewed commitment of the BiH Presidency to European integration, High Representative Inzko informed the Secretary-General about other current political developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the immediate challenges the country faces in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The High Representative stressed the need for the swift adoption of the state budget in order to mitigate the negative socio-economic consequences of the pandemic and enable unimpeded preparations for the local elections in October.
Welcoming the increasing attention the UN is paying to initiatives aimed at reconciliation and peacebuilding in BiH, High Representative Inzko also took the opportunity to emphasize the need for closer cooperation within the international community to advance positive, future-oriented reforms.
