BRUSSELS, (Patria) - During this week's visit to Brussels, High Representative Valentin Inzko met with the Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Thomas Mayr-Harting, the rapporteur for BiH and EU Parliament member Cristian Dan Preda, and other EU officials.
The High Representative gave a speech at a conference organized by the European Parliament titled “European Bosnia and Herzegovina: Cultural Diversity and Reconciliation”.
During the meetings, the High Representative briefly explained his vision of the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the challenges BiH will face in the future.
The High Representative said that political parties must reach an agreement on electoral reform, which would enable the smooth conduct of elections and the implementation of the 2018 election results.
- Political parties and their leaders must be ready for compromises and find a solution. There is no alternative - the High Representative emphasized.
He also said that another key area where BiH must make progress is the rule of law.
- I want to emphasize that the rule of law, including the fight against corruption, is the foundation of economic development, which this country desperately needs.
