Inzko Welcomes Continuation of Sarajevo's Funding

High Representative Valentin Inzko praised today's adoption of amendments to the Law on Public Revenue Allocation in FBiH, which will enable the continuation of funding for the City of Sarajevo, reports the Patria News Agency.

High Representative Inzko recalled that the problem arose when the previous composition of the Federation Parliament amended the said law and excluded Sarajevo from the new system of indirect tax revenue distribution in the Federation. As a consequence, Sarajevo has not received any funds from the Federation's single account since May of last year.

"Funds for the execution of obligations and the performance of basic functions were called into question. In order to resolve this problem, on September 16, I wrote to the Chairman of the Council of Ministers as well as the Prime Ministers of the Federation and the Canton, and my office staff engaged on this issue with their staff. I thank Prime Minister Novalić and his team for their cooperation and personal commitment, and I expect the same commitment and support from the Federation Parliament for the proposed solution," said High Representative Valentin Inzko, the OHR announced.
