Investments are falling, BiH Council of Ministers offers no response

Foreign investments in BiH last year decreased by one third compared to 2012, according to a report by the Directorate for Economic Planning of BiH. According to official data from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, a total of 283.86 million KM was invested in 2013, which represents a decrease of about 34% compared to the total investments in 2012.

The third quarter of last year was particularly poor, with only 27 million marks invested in BiH from abroad.

- According to data from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, the largest investments in 2013 were from companies in the power sector, namely in "ETF Rudnik i termoelektrana Stanari" d.o.o. Stanari in the amount of 73.22 million KM, and "Comsar energy RS" in the total amount of 62.59 million KM. Also significant are the investments in "Al Jazeera Network" in the total amount of 25.67 million KM and "Mlijekoprodukt" d.o.o. Kozarska Dubica in the amount of 14.5 million KM - the report of the Directorate for Economic Planning states.

The BiH Council of Ministers adopted this report and made only three brief conclusions, including that the information is "taken note of". When it comes to the decline in investments, the state government concluded the following:

- The Council of Ministers will undertake all necessary measures and activities within its competence to promote and attract investments, support exports, and create employment in order to improve the economic situation in BiH.
