Police intervention on M-17, traffic normalized

MOSTAR, (Patria) - The multi-hour blockade of the M-17 Jablanica-Mostar main road was broken around 8 PM after the special police of the MUP HNK had to forcibly remove workers of Mostar's Aluminij from the road.

Kilometer-long queues formed due to the protest, and BIHAMK warns drivers to drive carefully and avoid risky overtaking.

During the protest, Aluminij workers only allowed passage for cars with children and sick people.

As reported by N1's reporting team, members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton intervened, after which traffic was normalized. There were no major incidents.

Dnevni list reminds that the workers of Mostar's Aluminij blocked the M-17 main road in Salakovac, north of Mostar, for almost five hours, causing a 10-kilometer-long queue of vehicles.

Aluminij workers had previously announced a blockade of a part of Mostar where the headquarters of HDZ BiH is located, but they abandoned that idea.

Aluminij has secured electricity supply until midnight tonight, after which the plant will be disconnected from the grid.

In the past few years, Aluminij has been operating at a loss, and the company's total debt is almost 400 million marks, of which more than half is debt for consumed electricity.
