Internet restored in Gaza after three-day outage

(Patria) - Internet is once again available in the Gaza Strip, the head of the Palestinian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority told AFP on Saturday, after a three-day power outage blamed on the Israeli army.

"The network is now down across the Gaza Strip," said the regulatory body's executive director, Laith Daraghmeh.

The Palestinian Authority's Ministry of Telecommunications reported on Thursday that internet and fixed-line communications were down after Israeli forces targeted an optical cable.

The ministry stated that their maintenance and repair teams were initially unable to safely access the sites where damage occurred.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said on Thursday that the internet outage had hampered its operations, disrupting communication with first responders on the ground, also blaming Israel for the outage.

Now in its 21st month, the war in Gaza has caused immense damage to infrastructure, including water pipes, power lines, and roads across the Palestinian territory.
