Institute for Health: Transportation is an important link in epidemiologically safe attendance of classes

(Patria) - The Institute for Health and Food Safety Zenica (INZ) warned, on the occasion of the beginning of the new school year, about the need to ensure epidemiological conditions for the safe transport of students on the route home - school and back.

These notes apply to the transport of young passengers by bus, private vehicle or van. As stated by the Institute, all measures taken in schools, as well as in citizens' homes, can be jeopardized during the transport of students or pupils, given that public transport has proven to be one of the most common places for the spread of the new coronavirus - COVID-19.

Regardless of whether it is unscheduled, special student transport or the use of regular lines, the same protective measures are necessary. At the entrance to the vehicle, a notice should be posted about the obligation of physical distancing and wearing face masks. It is recommended that the vehicle be filled to an extent that allows for physical distancing of one and a half to two meters. Every other seat should remain empty, in such a way that passengers sit diagonally behind each other - "zigzag".

Hands should be washed before entering the vehicle, after leaving the vehicle, after cleaning the vehicle, and in all other recommended situations. Disinfectant should be available at the entrance to the vehicle, and hand disinfection is required upon entry (staff and passengers). Both the driver and passengers must wear masks during the ride.

The cleanliness of the vehicle must be maintained, and surfaces should be wiped with disinfectant several times a day, especially frequently touched surfaces, headrests and armrests, handrails, and records of cleaning and disinfection should be kept. The passenger compartment must be regularly ventilated, and the use of air conditioning and ventilation devices should be avoided, according to INZ.
