Police Commissioner Elrik Fredu, who led the investigation into the attack on the editorial office of the French satirical magazine "Charlie Hebdo" committed suicide in his office, local media reported today, reports the Patria News Agency.
The media house "France 3" reported that the incident happened in Limoges, the administrative capital of the Limousin region.
Fredu (45) suffered from depression.
Shortly before committing suicide, Fredu met with the families of the victims of the "Charlie Hebdo" attack and killed himself while preparing a report.
"We are all shocked. No one was prepared for such a turn of events," said a representative of the local police union.
