Inspection conducted oversight in 50 private practices, seven closed due to irregularities in operations

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs in the past period (November and December) conducted an inspection oversight in private practices and polyclinics after the fatal death of the girl Džena Gadžun following surgery in a private healthcare institution.

The Minister of Health of KS Haris Vranić requested intensified health inspection oversight in all private practices and polyclinics in the Canton of Sarajevo where surgical procedures and other interventions under anesthesia are performed.

Initially, oversight was conducted in the Private Ophthalmological Practice “Dr. Halimić“, the Private Practice for Anesthesia and Pain Therapy, prim. dr. Suad Rožajac, as well as the private practice “Bejtović“, where irregularities were observed. 

The health inspection conducted an inspection oversight, and the compliance of premises, equipment, staff, and record-keeping with regulations in the field of healthcare was checked. The compliance of performing healthcare activities with the approved activities by the decision of the competent Ministry of Health was also checked.

The inspection imposed a temporary measure of prohibition of activity for the following private institutions:

- PZU Polyclinic Eurofarm centar, PJ Unitic

- Private Ophthalmological Practice Eye Ckinic Dr Ismail Eiad

- Private Specialist Practice for Maxillofacial Surgery Prof. dr. Faris Fočo

- PZU Polyclinic Bosanes

- PSO Bejtović

- PSO DR Fočo

- PZU Polyclinic Srce Sarajeva

The inspection states that oversight is also carried out at the request of other authorities and citizens, i.e., patients.

On a monthly basis, two health inspectors receive about 40 requests for inspection oversight, and after the new request from the Ministry of Health, oversight was conducted in 50 private entities.
