India builds the largest commercial building in the world

(Patria) - The Surat Diamond Bourse in India has been declared the largest commercial building in the world.

The diamond exchange spans approximately 659,000 square meters as part of the new Diamond Research and Mercantile City business district in Surat, India, and comprises nine skyscrapers, each with 15 interconnected floors.

This business complex contains 4,500 offices for diamond traders, ranging in size from 27 to 250 square meters.

It is serviced by 131 elevators, and numerous multipurpose spaces are available - from conference halls to restaurants, banks, and even a hotel.

The Surat Diamond Bourse will also include a special customs office with a national institute for diamond research, an international congress center, and various other educational institutions.

After four years of construction, which was partially delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Surat Diamond Bourse is expected to officially open on November 21 this year.

It will then officially dethrone the American Pentagon, which for years was considered the largest commercial building in the world.

The headquarters of the United States Department of Defense, namely, has 620,000 square meters of office space, reports Punkufer.hr.
