Incident on Estonian border, masked Russian soldiers appeared

(Patria) - Members of the Russian military forces appeared near the border crossing near the Estonian village of Saatse, which temporarily closed the road on Friday. Estonian authorities described the move as "an intentional provocation", stating that masked soldiers formed a line across the road.

Tallinn reacted immediately and closed the road for the safety of civilians, while Moscow claimed it was "routine operations".

Security analysts assess that the incident is part of Russia's testing of NATO's resolve, as part of a broader campaign of hybrid warfare towards the Baltic states. Estonia has announced increased surveillance and the construction of a bypass on the risky section of the border.
