Commission for Cooperation with NATO Appointed

(Patria) - The Council of Ministers of BiH, with nine votes in favor and one against, adopted in the second round of voting the Decision on the Establishment of the Commission for Cooperation with NATO, with amendments adopted at the session, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Office for Legislation of the Council of Ministers of BiH, will incorporate into the Decision before its signing.

The Commission, among other things, determines the priorities in the implementation of Bosnia and Herzegovina's obligations arising from BiH's participation in NATO's "Partnership for Peace" program, as well as in relation to the implementation of obligations from the Bosnia and Herzegovina Reform Program document. The voting principle of the Commission members follows the voting in the Council of Ministers of BiH, which is a novelty in this decision, where, in addition to consensus, decisions can be made by a majority vote, provided that at least two members of the Commission from each constituent people vote in favor of the decision, and a second round of voting is introduced in case decisions are not made.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Josip Brkić was appointed as the Chairperson of the Commission, and Deputy Minister of Defense for Resource Management Mirko Okolić and the Secretary of this Ministry Muhamed Smajić were appointed as Deputy Chairpersons.
