ILLEGAL BUSINESS Owner of the facility in Stup profits from migrants, citizens in fear seek help

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton found 151 migrants in a residential building in the Sarajevo settlement of Stup on Friday.

The Patria agency team went to this settlement today, specifically to Munira Gavrankapetanovića street.

Although the migrants were transferred to the Ušivak center after the police action, and some were taken over by the Service for Affairs with Foreigners, today we find migrants in front of the same building again.

The few residents we encountered on the street tell us that the situation in this street is chaotic and dangerous because of all this.

"Especially at night. They fight, they make noise, we don't know what to do. The police were here on Friday, but everything is the same again," panicked residents tell us.

They add that they do not understand why certain humanitarian organizations deliver food and aid to these migrants, housed in an illegal facility.

We ourselves have seen that this is the case, as we found certain vehicles that brought aid to the migrants.

We remind you that in November last year, a migrant fell from this building.

We were unable to reach the owner of the facility, but the residents of this street revealed to us that he charges from 3 to 4 KM for accommodation for migrants.

"This has been going on for almost a year. After the police action on Friday, there are now about 100 of them again. The owner of the facility earns 300-400 KM per night, and up to 14,000 KM per month. And other citizens are suffering," say the residents.

One police action is clearly not enough to curb illegal accommodation for migrants, but also illegal delivery of aid.

"Someone decided to profit from the suffering of others, but to burden their neighbors. Law enforcement agencies should come to this street more often, but also stop the illegal business of the facility owner, before a tragedy occurs," residents of Munira Gavrankapetanovića street told Patria in a conversation.
