(Patria) - "The Institute for the Research of Genocide Canada (IGK) is disappointed with today's ruling by the Supreme Court in the Netherlands. It is not moral, humane, or just that the responsibility of the Netherlands in the previous ruling was 30 percent, and that the Supreme Court reduced that responsibility to 10 percent, which is certainly devastating for the victims and does not contribute to truth and justice," stated Emir Ramić, Director of IGK.
The international community, especially world powers, did not adequately respond to the aggression against the sovereign, independent, internationally recognized state of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. That is why the Srebrenica genocide will forever haunt humanity, civilization, the international community, and especially the United Nations. The Dutch battalion was part of the United Nations and did nothing to save the victims of the genocide.
"Members of that battalion expelled people from the United Nations base and did nothing to prevent the genocide. Members of the Dutch battalion hid evidence of the committed genocide against Bosniaks. Only a few years ago, video recordings were handed over, when a mass grave was discovered, and a confession about it was given by a Dutch soldier.
It is clear that the Dutch battalion within the United Nations did not prevent the genocide in Srebrenica. Dutch soldiers did not protect Bosniaks in the so-called "safe zone" when the army and police of the Republika Srpska entity occupied the town and killed more than 8,000 Bosniaks. The Dutch government resigned after the genocide in Srebrenica because of this.
Today's ruling is not in line with justice and truth for the victims and does not contribute to the defense of the honor of UN peacekeeping forces and peacekeeping operations. Because the Netherlands is responsible for the crime of genocide committed by Serbian military and police forces, which were convicted of genocide in Srebrenica by the International Court of Justice. Soldiers tasked with maintaining peace allowed genocide. Today, this was not adequately judicially sanctioned, which sends a bad message to future UN peacekeeping forces that they will not be held accountable in case of a passive attitude towards aggressive genocidal violators of peace, security, human life, and dignity," Ramić states.
