Despite being suspected of crimes in Srebrenica, Pisić remains head of Brčko police

The election of the new police chief in Brčko, Goran Pisić, is legal, ruled the Brčko District Court, after some representatives in the Brčko District Assembly sought a review of Pisić's appointment to the head of the local police, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Pisić has long been suspected of participating in the genocide in Srebrenica in 1995 as a member of the Republika Srpska police.

In eastern Bosnia, members of the RS army and police raped and killed more than 10,000 Bosniaks, and a newspaper article published by Oslobođenje in 2006 mentions the name of Goran Pisić as one of the police officers known to have fought in the Srebrenica area on the side of the RS police during the greatest genocide in Europe after World War II.

Regardless of the earlier accusations, the Brčko District Court of BiH assessed that Pisić's appointment to the head of the Brčko police was carried out in accordance with the law, writes Patria.
